Doing what you can to achieve a beautiful smile is not simply an exercise in vanity. In fact, many studies conducted over the past several years have shown that an attractive smile boosts a person’s self-esteem and self-confidence. So who wouldn’t want a beautiful smile?
Fortunately, thanks to advancements in dental technology, almost anyone can enjoy all the benefits of an attractive smile. One way to do that is with dental bonding, which is why Dr. Argandona is pleased to offer this service to her patients from throughout the Leander, TX, and West Lake Hills, TX, areas.
What You Should Know about Dental Bonding
Bonding is a remarkably fast, easy procedure. It involves Dr. Argandona simply applying a bonding material over the surface of your existing teeth, then using a special light to harden the material. That’s it!
While there’s no doubt that bonding is a simple procedure, it does have some limitations that you should be aware of. The bonding material typically needs to be replaced every 4 to 7 years. And bonded teeth can be stained in much the same way as your natural teeth, so if you smoke or drink too much coffee or red wine, for example, your teeth may stain.
Bonding material is also susceptible to damage, so chewing anything hard – like ice or hard candy – is not recommended for people whose teeth have been bonded.
How to Know if Dental Bonding is Right for You
The end results of dental bonding are stunning, providing dramatic improvement to even the most challenging of smiles. If you suffer from permanently stained teeth that cannot be whitened by other means (such as teeth with eroded enamel), bonding can be a great way to brighten your smile.
Bonding may also be a good choice to repair the appearance of teeth that are misshaped or chipped. But, as is the case with any dental procedure, dental bonding may not be the best choice for you. Dr. Argandona can provide more information and help you decide whether this procedure is right for you.
